The Push for Equal Parenting Time in MN
08/06/2019A78 Amendment (adding a 50/50 parenting time mandate). On Monday April 29, 2019 starting at 11:00 a.m. the Minnesota House began their session and addressed the bill was discussed by the Judiciary Budget and Public Safety Omnibus. Apparently after some strong debate shortly before and shortly after midnight, the House did vote to retain the cooperative private divorce language, but rejected the amendment that would have created the equal parenting time presumption. The equal parenting time presumption amendment was defeated by a tie vote with 67 ayes and 67 nays. Not having a majority of aye votes, the amendment for an equal parenting time presumption did not prevail (but came very close).
